Mountaire Farms of Siler City joins other chicken producers in shifting to selling directly to consumers in box sales focusing on large orders at a lower price per pound.
On Saturday in Hoke County, Mountaire offers 40-pound cases of frozen chicken breasts for $35 a case. According to the company's Facebook page, the sale accepts cash only, and exact change only.
It is a drive-through sale, and shoppers can stay in their cars while picking up.
The sale is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 423 E Central Avenue in Raeford on Saturday, April 18, 2020.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Hoke County Rescue Squad, Inc.
