Motorcyclist survives crash on I-40 near Harrison Avenue in Cary

A motorcycle crash shut several lanes of Interstate 40 West on Wednesday.

CARY, N.C. — A motorcyclist survived a crash shut several lanes of Interstate 40 West on Wednesday.

According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was trying to pass in between lanes, clipped a pickup truck and lost control.

The crash occurred before 7 a.m. near the Old Reedy Creek Road bridge between Exit 287 for Harrison Avenue and Exit 285 for Aviation Parkway. Two westbound lanes were closed for about an hour.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in an ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured.
