Motorcyclist seriously injured in collision with pickup truck

A motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 70 west of Princeton on Friday evening when the driver of the truck failed to stop for a stop sign.

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A motorcyclist was critically injured following a collision with a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 70 west of Princeton Friday evening when a truck driver failed to stop for a stop sign, authorities said.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to Wake Med after his bike slid under the pickup truck

The truck driver suffered minor injuries and a passenger inside the truck was uninjured, officials said. Authorities have not yet identified the motorcycle driver or the person driving the truck.

All lanes of the highway were closed in both directions for about an hour.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and charges are pending.
