DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist dead Sunday evening.

Authorities said a motorcycle and car collided just before 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Holloway and Woodcrest streets.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the car sustained minor injuries.

Authorities have not said what caused the crash or if any charges will be filed.

Neighbors told WRAL News that there is a malfunctioning traffic light near the intersection where the crash occurred and people frequently drive too fast on the road.

"Most people that come here coming from work that have car wrecks, most of them are rushing to get home from that rush hours. Point blank, there's a lot of car wrecks on this corner," Kelcey Spencer said.

Holloway Street reopened at about 9:40 p.m.
