Motorcyclist killed in Cumberland wreck

A man died and his wife was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after a driver turned her car into the path of their motorcycle on a Cumberland County road.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man died and his wife was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after a driver turned her car into the path of their motorcycle on a Cumberland County road.

According to the state Highway Patrol, Bobbie Brown, 41, hit the bike while making a left turn on U.S. Highway 301 near Snowhill Road. She was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, failure to see when turning and unsafe tires.

Daniel George Alward and Amanda Alward, both 31, of Hope Mills, were on the motorcycle. She was in serious condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. 

Two passengers from Brown's car, Anthony Autry, 46, and Dana Gabriel, 21, were taken to the hospital for evaluation, but neither was seriously injured, troopers said.
