Motorcyclist killed after crash in Fayetteville, police say

— A motorcyclist was killed after he lost control of the bike and crashed Saturday evening in Fayetteville, authorities said.

Police said Jon Weldon, 50, of Berriedale Drive, was traveling southbound on All American Expressway about 6:45 p.m. when his motorcycle, a 2004 Harley Davidson, crashed. Weldon was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died, police said in a written statement.

The crash prompted police to close two of three southbound lanes of All American Expressway while they investigated the wreck.

All lanes of travel were reopened at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday.
