RALEIGH, N.C. — One motorcyclist was killed and another motorcyclist was arrested Tuesday night after two separate crashes on Interstate 440.

Tuesday night just before 11 p.m., a motorcyclist crashed into a guard rail on I-440 near Exit 10 for Wake Forest Road.

A state trooper at the scene confirmed the victim was Sean Floyd Laisure of Raleigh.

The crash shut down a section of I-440 near Capital Boulevard. The road reopened around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Another motorcycle crash occurred on I-440 after a chase with troopers. According to the State Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was driving 80 mph in a 30 mph zone in the area of Glenwood Avenue and Carolina Country Club.

A state trooper pursued the motorcyclist, which led to a chase.

The crash was expected to shut down traffic for hours.

The chase ended when the driver lost control and crashed near the on-ramp of the I-440 Beltline, just east of Arrow Drive.

The driver was arrested without incident and was charged with reckless driving.
