Motorcyclist killed in crash involving Chevy, tractor trailer on US 64

A motorcyclist was involved in a crash on U.S. Highway 64 Friday morning.

Motorcycle crash slows traffic on US 64 near Wendell
WENDELL, N.C. — A motorcyclist died in a crash on U.S. Highway 64 Friday morning.

According the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a Chevy and a tractor trailer were also involved.

Officials said the tractor trailer was in the right lane of U.S. 64 and the Chevy was in front of the motorcycle in a left lane.

According to officials, traffic was slowing down in both lanes when the motorcyclist hit the back of the Chevy, tipped over and was run over by the tractor trailer.

The motorcyclist was a 20-year-old man. His identity has not been released.

No one will be charged in the case.

The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Exit 432 for Lizard Lick Road.

At least two lanes were closed, and heavy delays were reported coming from both directions until 9 a.m.
