DURHAM, N.C. — A motorcyclist was killed and a second one hurt during a collision with a car in Durham Wednesday night that prompted police to close the road for several hours while they investigated the crash.

Randy Mason, 28, was riding his bike on Guess Road when he and another motorcyclist were struck by a car making a left turn on Guess Road near Garland Street shortly before 8:30 p.m.

Mason was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. That victim's identity and condition were not immediately available.

Officers say Debra Brown was driving the vehicle that struck the motorcyclists.

Police have not filed charges in the case, and it was not immediately clear if charges would be filed.
