Motorcycle crash closes Fayetteville's Bragg Boulevard

Bragg Boulevard between Filter Plant Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway remained closed, and motorists were advised to use alternate routes and expect delays until the scene is cleared.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — All lanes of Bragg Boulevard were closed Monday afternoon following a serious motorcycle accident in the area.

Fayetteville police said that a car driven by Shirley Yvonne Murphy, 73, of the 1000 block of Fontana Street, collided with a motorcycle at the intersection of Bragg Boulevard and Ames Street at 3:26 p.m. The driver of the motorcycle, Brenden Scott Wilson, 24, of the 200 block of Hay Street, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with severe injuries.

Fayetteville police are investigating the cause of the crash. Anybody with information is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 910-433-1830.
