THIS COMPETITION HAPPENED ON SUNDAY MARCH 5TH IN RALEIGH AT BROUGHTON HIGH SCHOOL. HER MOTHER SAYS SHE WAS IS WARMING UP WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THIS IS WHAT KIYANA JO LOVES TO DO. FLY THROUGH THE AIR WITH THE GREATEST OF EASE. THE 17 YEAR-OLD IS A COMPETITIVE CHEERLEADER, BUT THERE WERE SOME SCARY MOMENTS DURING A RECENT COMPETITION IN RALEIGH. THEY HAD JUST GOTTEN FINISHED WITH THE VERY FIRST AND AT THAT POINT OF THIS DONE, THEY COME DOWN TO WHERE THE GIRLS ARE HOLDING HER IN A SEATED POSITION. AND WHEN SHE GOT TO THAT POSITION, SHE WAS UNRESPONSIVE. &gt;&gt; IT WAS THOUGHT THAT SHE WAS HAVING A SEIZURE, BUT A COACH REALIZE SHE DIDN'T HAVE A POLLS. SO CPR WAS STARTED. HER MOTHER JUMPED IN TO HELP SAVE HER DAUGHTER'S LIFE. AND I HAVE DONE TO SET A COMPRESSION, SOME BRASS. AND THEN I THOUGHT I HAD LOOKED OVER TO MY LEFT SIDE AND I SAW FINALLY SAW THE AED MACHINE HAS GOT THERE. &gt;&gt; HER MOTHER PUT THE PADDLES ON THE 17 YEAR-OLD THE MACHINE TOLD OR AN ELECTRIC SHOT WAS NEEDED. &gt;&gt; SHE HAD MANAGED TO THE SHOCKING AND CONTINUED CPR UNTIL MEDICS ARRIVED. JOE WAS TAKEN TO WAKE MED AND THEN TRANSFERRED TO DUKE MEDICAL CENTER FOR A CARDIAC MRI. IT CONFIRMED THE TEENAGER SUFFERED A HEART ATTACK. HER MOTHER IS JUST THANKFUL AN AED WAS AVAILABLE AT THE CHEERLEADING COMPETITION. IF WE CAN SAVE ONE LIFE JUST WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO GET THAT AD AND THAT EVERY FACILITY THAT HAS ANY KIND OF ACTS LIKE ATHLETES AND THEIR CHILDREN AT ALL. &gt;&gt; THEY NEED TO HAVE ONE. &gt;&gt; SO KIYANA REMAINS IN THE HOSPITAL GETTING TREATMENT, BUT HER MOTHER IS JUST THANKFUL THAT SHE'S ALIVE. &gt;&gt; IN HARNETT COUNTY, GILBERT BAYS, WRAL, NEWS. Hello, everyone. I'm meteorologist Peter Sherwood in the Wral Severe Weather Center. Today is going to be the warmest day of the week with a high of 83 degrees. Come tomorrow, we're going to see some slightly cooler temperatures build in. We'll top at 76. By the afternoon, we do have this back door front that's moving across our region. There's some clouds behind it and we are going to see the cloud cover out there as we head into the afternoon, some pockets of sunshine will develop, especially in some of our southern counties. But overall, it is going to be a partly cloudy to mostly cloudy day. We will see a very small chance of a few passing showers later on this evening into tonight, we just have a 20% chance of rain in the forecast. While most of us today will be on the dry side. We are going to see our temperature climb into the eighties with a high of 83 degrees. Today, it's going to feel amazing outside. If you love that warm weather, we are going to get our temperatures for this evening to fall into the seventies. Now, keep in mind, our dew points will be a little elevated today in the upper sixties. And then come tomorrow, we are going to see those deport readings in the upper to mid sixties by the afternoon, but they are expected to drop into the lower sixties. By the time we head into Wednesday, that measure of moisture in the atmosphere will be lower by Wednesday allowing us to get a solid fall like feel to move in. So our temperatures are going to be a slightly cooler as well. 83 for the afternoon high today, tomorrow 76 temperatures in the lower seventies as we head into to Wednesday, it is going to feel amazing outside for this week. Our rain chances will be limited as well. Looking ahead into the beginning of October, temperatures are expected to be above normal for this time of the year. Remember as we head into the beginning of October, we expect readings in the upper seventies. It's not be the case likely to be a little bit milder than that. We have small rain changes in place as we head into Thursday and Friday, a coastal low could develop and bring some showers into our region. But leading into the weekend, we are going to have pleasant conditions around with highs still in the seventies.

A powerline pole, possibly struck by lightning, is on fire in Atlantic Beach.

Ophelia really bearing down on the coast right now That's where we've seen the heart of these impacts so far Yes Wr Grace Holland is live on Atlantic Beach Grace We the last time we were with you we saw that that power line had been on fire What is the status right now Yes So that actually blew within the last few minutes Really loud pop that was heard from that You know this is just the first effects that we're starting to see of all these hours of sustained winds  So right now that power pole is just sort of hanging in two pieces right there and there are firefighters on scene I spoke briefly with one fire department official who just kind of told me that they've been monitoring this for about an hour Now They got the call around 645 five The road is open as far as I can tell they're letting cars through But I do see a firefighter who is sort of helping direct traffic just through this area That pole of course doesn't cross the road but it's just right there on the side The main concern that they really had was this driveway right here This is very close to that pier that we were in the last hour and this driveway is where people normally come in and out So they're not letting anyone in and out that direction  He gave us that officer gave us some directions on if we needed to get out of here how to do that safely So we don't go under these lines but this just goes to show I mean it's stuff like this This is why there are sections of the beach that don't have power right now is because of things like this And of course those crews are continuing to work on these lines and try to get it restored But at this point the outages are still happening So we're going to continue to keep you updated and monitor this situation Yeah of course this is a very active situation and grace I know you're going to stay on top of the course Thank you very much
