RALEIGH, N.C. — "Nothing says Happy Mother's Day like the miracle of a baby beaded lizard birth!" wrote the NC Museum of Natural Sciences when they made the birth announcement on their Instagram page.

The museum shared photos of the eggs and hatchlings alongside the story of their birth on Instagram as a Mother's Day surprise.

According to the museum, the 12 healthy baby Mexican beaded lizards were born at the museum just in time to celebrate the holiday. The new babies are healthy, cute--and venomous.

The hatchlings' first photo shoot featured several adorable--and scientific--photos. One sweet photo showed a hatchling--the first one out of their egg--snuggled up to their brother or sister, who had yet to hatch.

One photo of the mother and father showed the two beaded lizards sleeping side by side, with one putting their arm over the other's shoulder. Just like any new parents, they were proud, but exhausted.

Happy Mother's Day to the new beaded lizard mother and her 12 new babies. May it be the first happy Mother's Day of many to come.
