Mother pleads guilty to killing Bragg soldier
A South Carolina woman pleaded guilty Monday to killing her soldier daughter on Fort Bragg in February, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedPfc. Autumn Michelle Shannon, 32, was found dead in her home, at 147 S. Dougherty Drive, on Feb. 22 after a neighbor called military police.
Her mother, Linda Hough Shannon, was in the house covered in blood, and military police said she confessed to stabbing her daughter with a kitchen knife during an argument. Prosecutors said Autumn Shannon suffered more than 150 stab wounds and cuts.
Linda Shannon, 51, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the case. Her sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 16, and she faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
