BRISTOL, TENN. — The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office is charging the mother of a missing 15-month-old child who is the subject of an Amber Alert that has been discussed across the country.

Officials said officers received a State of Tennessee Department of Children’s Services referral in reference to Evelyn Mae Boswell, who had not been seen by family members in approximately two months. During the course of the investigation, officials said Megan ‘Maggie’ Boswell provided detectives and agents with a number of conflicting statements. Further investigation revealed that some of the information provided by Megan Boswell was false.

NBC affiliate WCYB reports Boswell has been charged with one count of false reports. She was being held in the Sullivan County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

The SCSO continues to work alongside the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in an effort to locate Evelyn. Officials encourage anyone with information to call 1-800-TBI-FIND.

A news briefing will be held Wednesday, officials said.
