New Life Church in Morrisville shared news with the congregation on Facebook, saying, "The life that he lived impacted everyone around him. According to the church’s website, Mark McKinney and his wife are founding pastors.

McKinney died Thursday when a car careened through the parking lot at Johnson’s Drive-In on East 11th Street and smashed into the restaurant.

Officials said the white SUV was headed west on U.S. Highway 64, veered into incoming traffic and continued to drive into the restaurant.

Three other people were hurt, one of them critically. The driver was OK and cooperated with police.

A memorial with flowers is resting outside the boarded-up restaurant.
