RALEIGH, N.C. — Those who slept in through gray skies and rain woke to different world this afternoon: one that is brighter, drier and warmer.

"Hopefully, people are going to do their sleeping in for the weekend this morning when we've got a little bit of rain around," Moss said. "Looks like it'll be a whole different world by later this morning."

A disturbance brought patchy showers and light rain to central and eastern North Carolina Saturday morning, but showers moved out of all but the southernmost counties by mid-day.

Clearing of the clouds also began moving in from the northwest in the early afternoon.

Temperatures were expected to say comfortable, with highs in the low to mid 70s.

"We're going to stay a little on the short side of normal today, but we'll be warming up over the next couple days," Moss said.

A ridge of high pressure will move into the state on Sunday and Monday, bringing higher temperatures and low humidity with it.

Sunday will see a high around 72, while temperatures on Memorial Day will reach into the low 80s. Monday will also be the clearest day of the holiday weekend.
