More than 75 people marched from the Durham Bulls Athletic Park to downtown Durham on Monday night to take a stand.

"To have everyone come together is a great feeling, just to have everyone be peaceful," said NC Central student Telisia Smith who felt compelled to organize the march after seeing acts of police brutality play out across the country.

"I have three younger brothers, and this could happen to them or me at any time," Smith said.

Protesters have hit the streets for ten days, and organizers said they plan on protesting as long as it takes to see change.

On Monday, they shared their emotions through poetry and song.

"Finally, the humanity of black men and women is finally being recognized and acknowledged on the highest levels," said Durham resident DeMarcus Williams.

"I hope that people understand that it's a new day. It's a new generation of people who are not going to stop until they see results," Williams added.

The protesters said it's important to keep demonstrating and make their voices heard.
