More than 40 events to check out in the Raleigh area this August

RALEIGH, N.C. — The summertime is winding down but that means we are almost ready for some fall events!

Aug. 1-7

Aug. 1: Little Fentonians with Rebecca W. Wheeler: Hosted by Athleta (Fenton Square, 21 Fenton Main St., Cary) - Author and yoga instructor Rebecca W. Wheeler brings an interactive book reading to Fenton Square. Readings and yoga classes will be from 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. No registration required.
Aug. 2: Fenton Live! Music Series (Fenton Square, 21 Fenton Main St., Cary) - Every Tuesday night this summer, there will be live music from North Carolina musicians from 6:30-9 p.m. The event runs Aug. 2 through Aug. 30.
Aug. 2: Fitz and the Tantrums & Andy Grammer (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Pkwy., Cary) - Fitz and the Tantrums and Andy Grammer bring their "The Wrong Party Tour" to Koka Booth Amphitheatre on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
Aug 2 - 7: Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - All rise for Academy Award® winner Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterwork.
Aug. 3: RuPaul's Drag Race World Tour (Red Hat Amphitheater, 500 S. McDowell St., Raleigh) - RuPaul's Drag Race World Tour is coming to Red Hat Amphitheater on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Aug. 3: Drag Queen Story Hour (Boxyard RTP, 900 Park Offices Dr., Durham) - Bring the kids to Boxyard RTP for a session of Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH), where drag queens read a favorite children’s book aloud.
Aug. 4: Daphnique Springs (Goodnights Comedy Club, 861 W. Morgan St., Raleigh) - See this stand up, actor and writer on stage at Goodnights on Thursday, Aug. 4.
Aug 4: LANY - Summer Forever Tour (Red Hat Amphitheater, 500 S. McDowell St., Raleigh) - The band brings its Summer Forever Tour to Red Hat Amphitheater on Thursday, Aug. 4, with special guest Surfaces.
Aug. 4-6: Ian Bagg (Raleigh Improv, 1224 Parkside Main St., Cary) - This comedian and podcast host will play Raleigh Improv Aug. 4 through 6.
Aug 5-6: Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Pkwy., Cary) - This festival includes more than 60 beers, 40 bourbons and lots of barbecue at Booth Amphitheatre. Things kick off Friday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 10 p.m. The event continues on Saturday.
Aug. 5: Five for Fighting with Special Guest The Verve Pipe (Meymandi Concert Hall at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, 2 E. South St., Raleigh) - See Five For Fighting with The Verve Pipe on stage Friday, Aug. 5, in Raleigh.
Aug. 5-7: Ryan Long (Goodnights Comedy Club, 861 W. Morgan St., Raleigh) - Long has amassed more than 100 million views with his viral digital shorts, and is currently the host of popular podcast "The Boyscast." See him on stage at Goodnights Aug. 5-7.
Aug. 6; RaleighWrld Summer Fest (Dorothea Dix Park, 1030 Richardson Drive, Raleigh) - This festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, at Dix Park. There will be live performances, food, vendors, picnics, contests and more. General admission tickets are $10 for teens and $45 for those over 18 years old.
Aug. 6: Rock the Park Concert (Southern Boundaries Park, 100 Third Fork Road, Durham) - DJ Terminator X & The Sample Supreme will bring some old school hip hop during this concert series from 6 to 8 p.m.
Aug. 7: R&D Brewing Field Day (R&D Brewing Seven Saturdays Taproom, 1399 Capital Blvd., Raleigh) - Enjoy various yard games on Sunday, Aug. 7, during this event from 1 to 4 p.m. There will also be a cornhole tournament, food trucks and live music.
Aug. 7: Rick Springfield - Working Class Dog Tour (Red Hat Amphitheater, 500 S. McDowell St., Raleigh) - The singer brings his "Working Class Dog" Tour to Red Hat Amphitheater on Sunday, Aug. 7, with special guests Men at Work and John Waite.

Aug. 8-14

Aug. 9-14: On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan (Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, 2 E. South St., Raleigh) - North Carolina Theatre presents this show that tells the inspiring true story of Gloria Estefan and her husband.
Aug. 9: Daryl Hall and the Daryl’s House Band (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - See this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee on stage. He will be joined by special guest Todd Rundgren.
Aug. 10: Eric Neumann (Goodnights Comedy Club, 861 W. Morgan St., Raleigh) - In February 2022, Neumann made his late night debut on NBC's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." See him on stage at Goodnights Aug. 10.
Aug. 10: Bark in the Park (Durham Bulls Athletic Park) - Enjoy a night of baseball at the DBAP with your pup in the outfield! A portion of every dog ticket sold will be donated to Second Chance Pet Adoptions.
Aug. 10: Chris Isaac (Carolina Theatre of Durham, 309 W Morgan St. Durham) - Over the course of his three-decade plus career, Platinum-selling and GRAMMY-nominated singer and actor Chris Isaak has performed to sold-out crowds across the globe with his longtime band Silvertone.
Aug. 10: REO Speedwagon and Styx with Loverboy: Live and UnZoomed (Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek, 3801 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh) - REO Speedwagon will perform at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek on Aug. 10. They will be joined by along with Styx and Loverboy.
Aug. 12-14: D.L. Hughley (Raleigh Improv, 1224 Parkside Main St., Cary) - One of the most popular and highly recognized standup comedians on the road today, DL can currently be heard nationwide as host of his own afternoon radio show “The DL Hughley Show.” See him on stage Aug. 12-14 at Raleigh Improv.
Aug. 12: Arrival From Sweden The Music of ABBA (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - Arrival from Sweden “The Music of ABBA” has sold out arenas and venues all over the world since 1995.
Aug. 12: WWE Smackdown (PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Rd., Raleigh) - See the Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre, the undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos, and many more at PNC Arena on Aug. 12.
Aug. 13: Keith Urban (Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek, 3801 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh) - Keith Urban bring "The Speed of Now World Tour" to Raleigh on Aug. 13.
Aug. 13: Geek and Grub Market (Wizard Edition) (Mordecai Historic Park, 1 Mimosa St., Raleigh) - Grab your wand and wizard garb and enjoy an evening edition of this market. This event will feature live music, fun activities, yummy food and geeky Items from 40 local geek themed artisans. It will be kid-friendly from 7 to 8 p.m. After that, there will be more adult activities.
Aug. 13: David Gray (Red Hat Amphitheater, 500 S. McDowell St., Raleigh) - Multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated, British singer-songwriter David Gray is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his seminal album, White Ladder, during this concert tour. He stops by Red Hat Amphitheater on Aug. 13.
Aug. 13: Taste of Soul NC (Seafood Edition) (Durham Central Park, 501 Foster St., Durham) - Experience five hours of the ultimate cookout at Durham Central Park. This event will include food trucks, local merchants, children's games, a bounce house and a DJ. It all happens from 3 to 8 p.m.

Aug. 15-21

Aug. 15: Lyle Lovett and His Large Band (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - An Evening with Lyle Lovett and his Large Band will feature an arrangement of Lovett standards, as well as a preview of songs from his upcoming album on Verve Records.
Aug. 16: Eddie Pepitone (Goodnights Comedy Club, 861 W. Morgan St., Raleigh) - Comedian Eddie Pepitone, also known as 'The Bitter Buddha,' is a master of the dark art of comedy, and he has been hailed as a modern day cross between Jackie Gleason, Don Rickles, and Eckart Tolle. See him on stage at Goodnights on Aug. 16.
Aug. 17: Mary Chapin Carpenter (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - See this five-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter on stage at DPAC.
Aug 18: Roger Waters (PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Rd., Raleigh) - Roger Waters returns to North America with an all-new tour. See him on Aug. 18 at PNC Arena.
Aug. 19-20: Margaret Cho (Raleigh Improv, 1224 Parkside Main St., Cary) - See his comedian, actor, entrepreneur and musician on stage at Raleigh Improv on Aug. 19 and 20.
Aug 20: Kevin Hart (PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Rd., Raleigh) - Kevin Hart brings his "Reality Check" tour to PNC Arena on Aug. 20.
Aug. 20: Rock the Park Movie Screening (Durham Central Park, 501 Foster St., Durham) - Enjoy a free movie screening of Love and Basketball starting at 8:30 p.m. at Durham Central Park.
Aug. 21: Jack Johnson (Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek, 3801 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh) - Jack Jackson with special guest Ziggy Marley will play Coastal Credit Union Music Park on Aug. 21.

Aug. 22-31

Aug. 23: Goo Goo Dolls (Red Hat Amphitheater, 500 S. McDowell St., Raleigh) - See the band on stage for its "Miracle Pill Summer Tour" at Red Hat Amphitheater on Aug. 23.
Aug. 25: Jon Pardi - Ain't Always the Cowboy Tour (Red Hat Amphitheater, 500 S. McDowell St., Raleigh) - Country singer-songwriter Jon Pardi brings his"Ain't Always the Cowboy" Tour to Red Hat Amphitheater on Aug 25. He will be joined by special guests Lainey Wilson and Hailey Whitters.
Aug. 26: Jay Pharoah (Raleigh Improv, 1224 Parkside Main St., Cary) - With six seasons as a cast member of NBC's Saturday Night Live, Pharoah is best known for his wide array of uncanny celebrity impressions. See him on stage at Raleigh Improv Aug. 26 and 27.
Aug 26: My Chemical Romance (PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Rd., Raleigh) - See the band on stage on Aug. 26 at PNC Arena.
Aug. 27: Joy Koy (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - Comedian Jo Koy will bring his Funny is Funny World Tour to DPAC.
Aug. 27-28: Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival (Cary Town Hall Campus,316 N. Academy St., Cary) - This 46th annual event will feature two-days of fun, including live music, children's activities and food and drink vendors. Admission is free. The event is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 28.
Aug 27: Night Nation Run 2022 (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Pkwy., Cary) - The Night Nation Run is blends music and running for a fun course filled with DJs, light shows, bubble zones, neon and black lights and more. It all happens Aug. 27 at Booth Amphitheatre.
Aug. 27: Packapalooza (Hillsborough Street in Raleigh) - Packapalooza is an all-day block party and street festival capping off Wolfpack Welcome Week for N.C. State students. From 2 to 10 p.m. there will be activities and live music. This year's headliner is American Aquarium.
