More than 200 COVID-19 cases reported in Cumberland County Schools during first week of class

The district is requiring that all students and staff wear face masks.
The school district has made 22 exemptions to the mask mandate, Whitley told the newspaper.
Cumberland County Schools is the fifth largest school district in North Carolina with more than 50,000 students.
In the weeks leading up to the start of school, the district reported about 100 coronavirus cases each week. Year-round students have been in school since mid-July.
