More than 1,000 people without power in Wake Forest after squirrel damages transformer

More than 1,000 Wake Forest Power customers were without power on Saturday evening after a squirrel came into contact with a transformer.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — More than 1,000 Wake Forest Power customers were without power on Saturday evening after a squirrel came into contact with a transformer.

Affected areas include portions of Elm Avenue, Holding Ridge Subdivision, Pineview Estates Subdivision, South Main Street, Durham Road, Bennett Park Subdivision and Tyler Run Subdivision, all in Wake Forest.

Electric crews expected power to restored in about an hour.
