More than 1,000 customers without power in Holly Springs

More than 500 customers were without power in Holly Springs on Monday.

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — More than 1,000 customers were without power in Holly Springs on Monday.

According to Duke Energy's outage map, 126 customers were without power at 7:30 a.m. in the Glennwood and Spring Meadow communities. An additional 357 customers were without power in the Sunset Lake Road area.

Stoplights were out at the intersection of Holly Springs Road and Bass Lake Road.

By 8:30 a.m., the outage had increased to 1,463 customers.

Power lines were down at Holly Ridge Elementary School, which is closed Monday for winter break.

A spokesperson said crews were at the scene and estimated power would be restored by 10:30 a.m.

One caller told WRAL News her power had been out since 3:45 a.m.
