Vass, N.C. — The Moore County Sheriff's Office said a 14-year-old has been charged with communicating a threat against his school.
Deputies said several citizens contacted them about a social media post that stated that there would be a shooting the next day at Crain’s Creek Middle School in Vass. Deputies were able to identify the person who made the threat and went to their home to talk with the person and search for any weapons.
No weapons were found but detectives obtained a juvenile petition on the 14-year-old for the charge of threats of mass violence on an educational property.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by the Moore County Schools Police Department and the principal of the Crain’s Creek Middle School.
