Beach season is upon us, and we asked the folks in the newsroom to share with us their own beach-related Five Faves! Five on Your Side's Monica Laliberte gave us her Five Favorite Beach restaurants:

Freddie's (Kure Beach) - Family owned Italian – Barb’s salad dressing and sauce are to die for! So is the bread.. and the chicken parmesan and the mushroom ravioli.. and the peach/pecan pork chops.. you get the idea.
The Kure Beach Pier's history started with L. C. Kure, who built the first pier in 1923. His grandson, Mike, has owned the pier since 1984. The current Kure Beach Pier is 750-feet long and 22-feet wide. It stands 25-feet above the sea.
Surfhouse (Carolina Beach) -  GREAT sandwiches – my FAVORITE tuna salad anywhere! Can’t go wrong with ANY of the offerings!
Jack Mackarals (Kure Beach) - BIG portions; great, interesting salads! Fresh seafood!
Connie Mitchell sent this photo taken at Carolina Beach after the worst of Irene had passed.
Havana's (Carolina Beach)Pretty atmosphere – love the shrimp cobb salad AND free entertainment: you watch the town fireworks from the outdoor patio!
Deck House (Carolina Beach)In an converted old church, very cool. Good seafood.
Bonus pick: Britts Donuts (Carolina Beach) - One kind—glazed. Buy a dozen, you will eat them ALL!

Look for more of our Five Faves Beach picks throughout June!
Are you headed to the beach this weekend?
