Raleigh, N.C. — Monday was expected to be the final work day of the year for state lawmakers.
One of the measures state lawmakers approved increased penalties for local officials who use their office for political gain.
The General Assembly also voted to keep private donors from covering election costs, cutting out a revenue stream that generated millions of dollars last year for boards of election around the state.
