Moncure man charged in shooting death of brother

Jerome Lee Taylor, 60, of 1377 Gargus Road, is accused of shooting Terry Allen Taylor, 54, of the same address, at 8:17 a.m. Saturday at 219 Circle Avenue in Sanford.

SANFORD, N.C. — A 60-year-old Moncure man has been arrested in the shooting death of his brother Saturday morning.

Terry Allen Taylor, 54, of 1377 Gargus Road in Moncure, suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest at about 8:17 a.m. Saturday at 219 Circle Avenue, Sanford Police Department Capt. Davis Smith said.

Taylor was transported to Central Carolina Hospital where he died.

Jerome Lee Taylor, of the same address, was arrested at the scene and charged with first degree murder, Smith said. Taylor is being held at Lee County jail with no bond.

The location of the shooting was the home of the victim’s girlfriend, Smith said. Terry Allen Taylor had spent the night at that location. Jerome Taylor showed up sometime in the morning, an altercation started and a shooting occurred, Smith said.
