RALEIGH, N.C. — A mother and her two sons are safe Monday, found almost a full day after they were reported missing.

A Silver Alert was issued Sunday night for a Maryland woman. She was with her two sons, ages 9 and 4. Although no foul play was suspected, police said they were worried about the wellbeing of the mother and the two boys.

The trio was seen on North Carolina State University's Centennial Campus Sunday morning, near the Stateview Hotel, and later near Silver Lake in Cary.

While police did not provide details about why the trio was in the Triangle, they said they got "multiple calls with tips" that led them to safety.

The mother and sons were evaluated by emergency personnel as a precaution.
