Mom on Faith: An invitation to Raleigh Easter
This is the third year for the Raleigh Easter Egg Hunt in downtown Raleigh's Halifax Mall. And if past years are any indication, it will be packed! Find out what changes organizers have made to make sure every child leaves with an egg.
Posted — UpdatedLast year, the event was so popular that some kids left without eggs. In fact, my son didn't have a chance and was handed an egg by a volunteer. Vintage21 heard the message loud and clear and has tripled the number of eggs for 2011. In 2010 the event had 10,000 eggs. This year, there will be 30,000 eggs.
I had the chance to speak with Ethan Perkins, Vintage21's children's director, about some of the improvements that have been made for this year's event.
"Last year we had a few issues with people not getting enough eggs. At first we thought, 'let's double the order' but then we figured it's better to be safe than sorry,'" he said. "So we tripled the amount of eggs for this year's hunt. Our goal is that every kid goes home happy and with 30,000 eggs, we are confident that will happen."
Other changes this year include the addition of two registration tents to speed up the process as well as having more clearly marked hunting areas. They have also added a hunting zone for children with special needs.
I will be there with my family. I hope you can join us!
