RALEIGH, N.C. — A Morrisville woman was arrested late Thursday after police said she left her 4-year-old daughter in a car in downtown Raleigh while she was drinking at a nearby bar.

Kimberly Ehlers, 28, of 3035 Quail High Blvd., was charged with misdemeanor child abuse.

Employees from The Big Easy called police at about 10 p.m. to report that a child was in a car parked near the Fayetteville Street restaurant, police said. Officers were able to get into the car and get the girl out at about the same time as the girl's mother returned to the car, police said.

The mother was given a sobriety test before her arrest, police said.

The girl was in the car for about 30 minutes, The Big Easy employees told police.
