ZEBULON, N.C. — Zebulon police were searching Tuesday for 29-year-old Quincy Lavon Winston Jr., who was last seen five days ago.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Winston, who is believed to be cognitively impaired, shortly before 3:30 p.m. He was last seen Thursday at 509 E. North St. in Zebulon.

Winston is black, with short, black hair and brown eyes, 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 290 pounds.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call police at 919-369-5684.

Developed in 2007, the Silver Alert system quickly notifies the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
