ROLESVILLE, N.C. — A missing wallaby, which jumped the fence at a veterinarian's hospital Wednesday, was spotted in Rolesville shortly after midnight Thursday.

Searchers said they had found Sydney the Wallaby in the Granite Falls community, and the owner and vet were trying to coax it to them.

The wallaby, which looks like a small kangaroo, escaped from the Rolesville Veterinary Hospital while playing outside after treatment for an abscessed tooth, veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Hummel said.

Hummel said the vet's office has offered a cash reward for the return of the wallaby. She described the animal as about three feet tall and friendly towards people.

The wallaby is owned by Noah's Landing Petting Zoo in Coats.

Anyone who sees the Sydney is asked to call 919-562-0100.
