Missing Rocky Mount woman, boyfriend found

Bushilly Atkinson, 24, was reported missing Friday after last being seen in car with her boyfriend, Derek Marcel Etheridge, 23. Police believed that Atkinson might have been injured in an altercation with him.

The two came to a police station together around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Atkinson's face was injured, but she did not require medical attention.

Etheridge was charged with assault. He was placed in the Edgecombe County jail under a 48-hour domestic-violence hold.

Etheridge has a 2004 misdemeanor conviction for disorderly conduct, according to state Department of Correction records.
