Fayetteville police said Thursday that a veteran reported missing by his family has talked with authorities and is OK.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police said Thursday that a veteran reported missing by his family has talked with authorities and is OK.

Investigators said Wednesday that Bennie Fairley was dropped off at the Veterans Administration Hospital, at 2300 Ramsey St., on Jan. 6.

"We have talked to him today and he is alive and well," a police department spokesperson said in a statement. "His rights to privacy prevent us from providing any additional information."
