CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new twist in the case of the toddler who was the subject of an Amber Alert on Sunday morning - the suspected abductor has been charged with killing the child's mother.

Police in Charlotte say they found 3-year-old Marlaya Monet Patterson Sunday afternoon, effectively canceling the Amber Alert. On Monday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Corey Patterson was charged in the murder of Jaqusica Wilson.

Wilson, 27, was found shot to death on Sunday morning. Hours later, the Amber Alert was issued.
