A Wendell man reported missing by the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons returned home Tuesday afternoon.

<b>WENDELL, N.C.</b> — A missing Wendell man returned home Tuesday afternoon.

The Wendell Police Department contacted the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to request an alert for John Reb Smiley.

Smiley, 94, was thought to be in imminent danger and suffering from cognitive impairment or dementia. He was safely back home by 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
