MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Police said a previously missing 5-year-old boy has been found safe and his father was charged.

On Monday night, Horry County (South Carolina) police sent out a memo about a then-missing 5-year-old and his father, who lives in North Carolina.

Bradly Simmons and his father, who has the same name, were last seen on Kings Road outside of Myrtle Beach, on Monday afternoon.

The grandmother of the boy told WRAL her grandson is safe and was reunited with his mother just before 4 a.m. at the Fayetteville Police Department. She is relieved and thankful.

Horry County Police have also confirmed the boy was "reunited with his proper guardian."

Police said Simmons, the father of the child who lives in Fayetteville, is not his guardian. The man was charged with domestic violence-related offenses.

WRAL has reached out to the Fayetteville police department for more information.
