— The FBI joined the search Tuesday for a missing 3-year-old in Onslow County.

An Amber Alert was issued just before noon Monday for Mariah Kay Woods. She is white, about 2 feet, 9 inches tall and 30 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Mariah's mother said she put the child to bed at their home at 2404 Dawson Cabin Road in Jacksonville on Sunday night and called the sheriff's office around 6 a.m. Monday to report her missing.

Woods said she last saw her daughter at about 11 p.m. Sunday and her boyfriend last saw the toddler at about midnight, when she woke up and he told her to go back to bed.

"If anybody knows where she is at or any information, just please call the sheriff's department or notify anybody," the girl’s mother, Kristy Woods said.

"She could be anywhere. She is very sweet loving girl. Long brown hair, blue eyes. Goes by Mariah. She has walking difficulties, so please, if anybody sees her. She is 3 years old. Please notify them,” Woods said.

A family friend says the girl wears orthopedic braces on both feet and has trouble walking without them.

"She's a sweet child, but she is shy with strangers, so she wouldn't just go with a stranger," said family friend Anne Edwards.

Investigators were searching the woods near the family's home and some property within the borders of Camp Lejeune.

Anyone with information about Mariah is asked to call the Onslow County Sheriff's Office 910-455-3113 or call 911.
