The Fenton development in Cary will be celebrating the grand opening of its movie theater and the release of the newest "Minions" movie with a party on Saturday.

The "Minions: The Rise of Gru" hits theaters this weekend.

In Fenton Square, families will enjoy food, fun, games and live entertainment as part of "Minion Mania." The Minions and Gru will also be on hand to meet fans. Activities in the square are free to attend.
You can also see the movie at Fenton's new Paragon Theatre, which is holding its grand opening this weekend.

When my son was 2 years old, he was a huge fan of "Despicable Me." I think we watched it every day for at least a year and he only wanted to wear shirts that had minions on them!

He loved the sequels and even enjoyed "Minions" - the origin story of these little yellow creatures. For me, the best part of "Minions" was the end when we see a young Gru meeting this future henchmen for the first time. It looks like that is where the new movie picks up, Gru getting to know his new friends!

Here's a movie description from Universal Pictures:
In the heart of the 1970s, amid a flurry of feathered hair and flared jeans, Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carell) is growing up in the suburbs. A fanboy of a supervillain supergroup known as the Vicious 6, Gru hatches a plan to become evil enough to join them. Luckily, he gets some mayhem-making backup from his loyal followers, the Minions. Together, Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto—a new Minion sporting braces and a desperate need to please—deploy their skills as they and Gru build their first lair, experiment with their first weapons and pull off their first missions.

What movies are you looking forward to seeing this summer?
