CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In September, rock and roll legend Mick Jagger stopped at a Charlotte bar for a drink one night before The Rolling Stones performed at Bank of America Stadium.

Jagger posted a photo of him outside the Thirsty Beaver Saloon, located on Central Avenue, and the post went viral, with more than 7,000 retweets and 70,000 likes. People shared the post on their own social media pages, and some people even copied the iconic pose as a joke.

Now, as WCNC Charlotte reports, Jagger is explaining why he created the post.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Jagger said it was his idea to post a photo of him out and about in the cities he was touring.

He said, before social media became bigger, people wouldn't notice him. But now that it's more popular, Jagger admitted "some people took a lot of notice and I thought, well, actually, this is kind of fun."

The Washington Post reporter asked Jagger if he had to request people look away from him while he posed, and he answered "basically, if you look, they're all behind me."
