Men busted for hidden weapons after leaving club

Rocky Mount police arrested four men after officers said they spotted weapons in their vehicle parked outside a club early Sunday.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police arrested four men after officers said they spotted weapons in their vehicle parked outside a club early Sunday.

Off-duty officers working at Club Side Effects noticed the barrel of a shotgun sticking up out of the front seat of a vehicle in the parking lot, police said.

After it left the club, police stopped the vehicle at Stonerose Drive and Dominick Drive. Officers said they seized two more handguns, along with the shotgun, from the vehicle.

Officers filed the following charges against the four occupants of the vehicle:

  • Clinton Whitley – carrying a concealed weapon, possession of an open container of alcohol inside a motor vehicle, driving after underage consumption of alcohol, carrying a concealed weapon while intoxicated
  • Davernn Dunston – carrying a concealed weapon
  • Tryon Knight – carrying a concealed weapon
  • Jay Taybron  – underage consumption of alcohol
