RALEIGH, N.C. — Looking for a safe space for your teen to hang out? Membership is open to the Saint Monica Teen Center, part of the Raleigh parks department.

Membership is free to middle school and high school students, age 13 to 19, though some activities might have a fee.

The mission of the Saint Monica Teen Center, according to the city's website, is to "provide a safe place for teens to participate in quality programs and have resources available to them in a positive recreational setting that will empower, develop, and encourage productive interactions with their peers while recognizing them as important members of the Raleigh community."

There, they can take part in some low-impact sports and fitness and recreation, meet other teens and get their homework done. It's open 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., weekdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m, Saturdays, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m, Sundays.

The space includes a teen lounge with gaming, a technology room with computers and workstations, a fitness and dance room and a kitchenette.

You can find it at Tarboro Road Park, 121 N. Tarboro St., near downtown Raleigh. More information is on the city's website.
