Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023 -- Any proposals to change or even eliminate certificate of need, should include the requirement that ALL healthcare facilities must serve a defined portion of uninsured and those on Medicaid While helping assure all those who need care get service, it would also mitigate the negative impact on the finances of nonprofit hospitals.
The bill would create 54 new beds for adolescent psychiatric care, lawmakers said, before eventually expanding to room for 90 patients. It would replace a different state-run facility that's set to close in March.
If the state legislature can't agree on Medicaid expansion, 300,000 people in North Carolina could lose their health coverage over the next 17 months.
