HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A Mecklenburg County couple couldn't bear to break the bond they had with their furry feline friend.

So, after 19-year-old Cinnabun passed, the Bullerdicks decided to do something a little unconventional – clone their kitty.

The couple found a Texas-based company known for cloning dogs, cats and horses, bought a kit and, with a skin sample and saliva sample – and a $25,000 fee – Cinnabun II was born.

Ashley and Brian Bullerdick say the now 5-month-old acts and looks just like its predecessor.

"An exact DNA match, obviously, but looks, yes, it's spot on," Ashley Bullerdick said.

As for a possible Cinnabun III, the Huntersville couple say they aren't counting it out, but they hope their current kitty lives a long, full life like the first.
