Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff's Office do not believe a shooting involving a child and two adults near Mebane on Wednesday morning was random.

ADAM OWENS JOINS US LIVE WHERE DEPUTIES CLEARED THE SCENE A SHORT TIME AGO. &gt;&gt; Reporter: THAT'S RIGHT. IN THE LAST HOUR THE ORANGE COUNTY DEPUTIES CLEARED THE SCENE. HE DID NOT WANT TO GO ON CAMERA BUT SAID IT WAS AROUND 7:30 THIS MORNING HE HEARD A NUMBER OF GUNSHOTS BUT INVESTIGATORS REALLY LEARNED MORE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE THREE SHOOTING VICTIMS INCLUDING A CHILD SHOWED UP AT A NEARBY HOSPITAL THIS MORNING. IT APPEARS THAT HAPPENED ON THIS PORTION OF INDUSTRIAL DRIVE JUST OFF THE HIGHWAY. AUTHORITIES SAY GUNSHOTS WERE FIRED INTO A VEHICLE. THERE WERE AT LEAST A DOZEN EVIDENCE MARKERS ON THE GROUND OUT HERE EARLIER. THREE VICTIMS ARRIVED AT UNC HOSPITAL IN HILLSBOROUGH IN THEIR OWN CAR. AUTHORITIES SAY THERE WERE BULLET HOLES IN THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE WAS SMOKING AT THE TIME. ALL THREE, TWO ADULTS AND A CHILD, HAD GUNSHOT WOUNDS TWO WERE TRANSFERRED. WE ARE WORKING TO GET INFORMATION ON THE NATURE OF THE INJURIES AT THIS POINT. A BIG PIECE OF THIS INVESTIGATION HERE THAT IS JUST STARTED TO GET UNDERWAY IS IT MAY COME DOWN TO THE SHOOTING VICTIMS AND WHAT THEY MAY KNOW BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY INDUSTRIAL AREA. IT IS CALLED INDUSTRIAL DRIVE. WE'VE BEEN OUT HERE A FEW HOURS AND IT'S HARD TO FIND ANYONE WHO COULD POTENTIALLY BE A WITNESS AT THAT HOUR IN THE MORNING.
