RALEIGH, N.C. — Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory is using a new web video to encourage voters to bring their identification to the polls.

"I know Governor Perdue doesn’t think it’s necessary, and neither do her understudies who want to take her job. But we do. We think it’s necessary to protect the fair, democratic vote," McCrory says in the 47-second spot.

Under current voting law, most voters don't have to show identification when they go to vote. Exceptions includes those who registered by mail but did not include a copy of their photo identification when they did so.
