<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — The wife of Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker filed Friday as a candidate for the Wake County Board of Education.

Anne McLaurin, who is a longtime community activist, plans to run for the District 5 seat on the board. Incumbent board member Susan Parry isn't seeking re-election.

Five of nine school board seats are up for election in November.

Meeker also filed as a candidate Friday. He is running for his fourth term as Raleigh mayor.
