MAXTON, N.C. — Police were looking for two suspects in a Tuesday afternoon armed robbery of First Bank in Maxton.

Just after 4 p.m. two men entered First Bank, at 107 W. Central St. Both suspects had handguns and demanded money from the tellers, police said.

Tellers placed an undisclosed amount of money into a small, black, nylon bag. The suspects were then seen leaving in what appeared to be a burgundy, four-door sedan, possibly a Ford Taurus.

The first suspect was described as a black man, approximately 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing light gray overalls that appeared to have paint stains on them, a white t-shirt and dark hat. He had a goatee and mustache.

The second suspect was described as a black man, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing dark blue or black overalls that also appeared to have paint stains on them. The suspect was also wearing a hat, possibly camouflaged, with bright-colored writing on the front. He was also wearing a black rag on his head.
