Maverick's Smokehouse opens in Durham

Now Maverick's has a new look with some exposed wood and new wall decor. Plus — a button on each table. Press it, and your waiter or waitress gets a notification to come by.

Their outside look now has a bright red paint job, a new sign and some new outdoor furniture. But, they kept the fire pits I knew and loved from Alivia’s.

Of course, the menu is all new. Maverick's will serve slow smoked barbecue pork, beef brisket, ribs, chicken, turkey, sausage, fish and more. For a barbecue place, I was so glad to learn almost all of their sides are meat-free (I’ve been vegetarian almost my whole life!).
