Mass marks milestone for Raleigh's Our Lady of Lourdes

Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of the Diocese of Raleigh will celebrate Mass Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Sunday to mark the culmination of that parish's 60th anniversary.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of the Diocese of Raleigh will celebrate Mass Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Sunday to mark the culmination of that parish's 60th anniversary.

Burbidge will dedicated the parish's new 28,385-square-foot recreation center, the St. Bernadette Center, which houses a new gymnasium with moveable bleachers, a stage, home and visiting team locker rooms, a music room with expansive storage, meeting rooms, offices and other amenities

Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School opened in October 1954 with the transfer of 115 students from the downtown Sacred Heart Cathedral School.

Sunday's Mass begins at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by a tours of the St. Bernadette Center and a cookie reception.
