Marty's BBQ fans mourn death of longtime owner
Lawrence Ellis, owner of Marty's BBQ in Wilson, died Tuesday, according to a post on the restaurant Facebook page.
Posted — UpdatedWILSON, N.C. — Lawrence Ellis, owner of Marty's BBQ in Wilson, died Tuesday, according to a post on the restaurant Facebook page.
The post did not list the cause of death for Ellis. It said the restaurant would be closed Wednesday to allow family to mourn.
Lawrence Ellis followed his father, Bill Ellis, into the barbecue business with Marty's, serving up eastern North Carolina-style barbecue, fried chicken and traditional sides in Wilson over 30 years.
