Three people died from a serious crash Thursday off the N.C. Highway 57 in Orange County.

A married couple, who were driving an SUV, were hit and killed in the crash on Thursday near Strouds Creek Road.

Officials said that one car, speeding, drifted into the other lane and hit an SUV head-on. Both drivers died in the crash.

Timothy Dylan Williams, 21, from Burlington, was driving north, and Ricky Lee Willard, 53, from Timberlake, was driving south. Officials said that Williams was driving the car that caused the crash.

Regina Murray Willard, 55, from Timberlake, also died as a result of her injuries.

Nick McLamb, son of Regina and Ricky Willard, is a youth pastor at Guess Road Baptist Church. He says he is completely devastated.

Her son said she was "giving, caring, thoughtful, genuine."

"She’s one of the greatest humans that ever lived as far as I’m concerned. And that’s not just saying because I’m her son. You can talk to anybody she knew and they’ll tell you the same thing," he said.

Stephanie Fallon Squires, a friend of Regina's for 14 years, posted on Facebook, agreeing with McLamb.

"Regina was my mentor, the most amazing leader ever ... I am devastated and sending love, thoughts and prayer to all of their family," she wrote on Facebook.

"She always talked about Jesus with everyone she knew," McLamb said. Now his mom is where she always wanted to be — heaven.

Officials say the crash happened because Williams was driving his car over the speed limit.
